Legal Care Program – The Essentials
Everyone has the right to fair access to justice. However, seeking legal counsel can be intimidating and resolving a dispute can be difficult, especially since finding and engaging a lawyer is often a lengthy and costly process.
Sault College Students’ Union (SCSU) is excited to announce that, as of Sept. 1, 2023, all full-time SCSU members will have access to a Legal Care Program that offers:
The Essentials, a legal representation service for eligible cases related to the following areas of law:
Starting in Fall 2023, students billed for the Legal Care Program on their tuition statement will be eligible for the Program. Eligible students will have the option to opt out online during the appropriate Change-of-Coverage Period (dates will depend on the semester in which they begin their studies) and receive a full refund. The opt-out process will be fully online.

- A legal consultation service providing access to legal counselling on any area of law
- Legal opinions
- Legal research
- Advice on legal documents and contracts
- Interpretation of applicable laws for each case
- Development of a strategy
- Sharing general information of a legal nature
- Follow-ups by the partner law firm
- Personalized and individualized case management

- Employment disputes
- Academic rights
- Public notaries
