Legal Care Program – The Essentials Everyone has the right to fair access to justice. However, seeking legal counsel can be intimidating and resolving a dispute can be difficult, especially since finding and engaging a lawyer is often a lengthy and costly process.
Sault College Students’ Union (SCSU) is excited to announce that, as of Sept. 1, 2023, all full-time SCSU members will have access to a Legal Care Program that offers:
A legal consultation service providing access to legal counselling on any area of law
Legal opinions
Legal research
Advice on legal documents and contracts
Interpretation of applicable laws for each case
Development of a strategy
Sharing general information of a legal nature
Follow-ups by the partner law firm
Personalized and individualized case management
The Essentials, a legal representation service for eligible cases related to the following areas of law:
Tenant/housing disputes
Employment disputes
Academic rights
Public notaries
Starting in Fall 2023, students billed for the Legal Care Program on their tuition statement will be eligible for the Program. Eligible students will have the option to opt out online during the appropriate Change-of-Coverage Period (dates will depend on the semester in which they begin their studies) and receive a full refund. The opt-out process will be fully online.
Full Program details will be available later in the summer at www.studentcare.ca.
