President
At a Glance The President is the chief student leader of SCSU, representing student voices and leading the organization’s vision, advocacy, and operations.
Role OverviewThe SCSU President works to engage, inform, and advocate for students on issues that impact post-secondary education and student life at Sault College. This role leads SCSU’s executive team and represents students at the highest level within the college and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Acts as the official representative and spokesperson for SCSU
Provides leadership to the Executive team and oversees day-to-day operations
Leads student advocacy initiatives and supports business planning
Works with the Board of Directors on organizational direction and budget input
Represents students in meetings with Sault College administration and external partners
Chairs Executive meetings and supports Board decisions
Represents SCSU on committees and at required events
Acts as an official signing authority when required
Administrative & Governance Responsibilities
Ensures SCSU by-laws and policies are followed
Works with the Executive Director on legal, financial, and management matters
Participates in hiring processes for SCSU staff when required
Prepares and presents an annual report at the AGM
Maintains records and prepares transition documentation for the next President
Removes themselves from decision-making when a conflict of interest arises
Term & Compensation
Term: May 1 – April 30
Hours: Up to 40 hours per week (salary position)
Compensation: $7 above current minimum wage
Eligibility Requirements
Must be a current full-time Sault College student at time of nomination
Minimum 2.5 GPA in the Fall semester
Must be at least 18 years of age

Vice President Student life
At a Glance The Vice President, Student Life supports campus events, student programming, and activities that enhance the overall student experience at Sault College.
Role OverviewThe Vice President, Student Life works closely with SCSU staff and the Program Manager to coordinate events, activities, and programming that support student engagement, spirit, and campus life throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities
Assists the SCSU President in carrying out executive duties
Works with the Program Manager to plan and deliver SCSU events and activities, including Frosh and Frost activities
Helps coordinate logistics, technical needs, and volunteer support for events
Supports and promotes student involvement in SCSU programs, initiatives, and campus recreation
Works with student chapters and clubs to encourage participation and school spirit
Collaborates with the Vice President, Campus Connections to promote SCSU activities
Collaboration & Governance
Acts as a liaison with Sault College staff, administration, and committees related to programming
Attends Executive meetings and other meetings as required
Provides updates and reports on programming and activities
Provides feedback and recommendations related to SCSU budgeting
Ensures SCSU by-laws and policies are followed
Prepares and presents an annual report at the Annual General Meeting
Prepares transition documentation to support the next Vice President, Student Life

At a glance The Vice President, Campus Connections is the main link between SCSU and students, focusing on communication, engagement, and campus-wide connection.
Role OverviewThe Vice President, Campus Connections leads SCSU communications and outreach, helping ensure students are informed, engaged, and aware of SCSU programs, services, and initiatives. This role works closely with campus partners and supports student engagement across all areas of campus life.
Key Responsibilities
Assists the SCSU President in carrying out executive duties
Leads SCSU communications and maintains awareness of SCSU initiatives and services
Develops and curates content for SCSU social media platforms and assists with website updates
Works with Sault College’s Communications Department on messaging and promotion
Promotes SCSU services, campaigns, and awareness weeks
Supports students in creating Chapters and Clubs and facilitates club elections when required
Collaboration & Governance
Prepares internal and external communications in consultation with the SCSU President
Maintains community relationships and updates agency information
Works with SCSU staff and Odeno Student Pub staff on advertising and promotions
Attends Executive meetings and other meetings as required

Indigenous students' union president
At a glance The Indigenous Students’ Union President represents Indigenous students at Sault College and leads the Indigenous Students’ Union in advocacy, community building, and cultural awareness.
Role OverviewThe Indigenous Students’ Union (ISU) President works closely with SCSU, the Indigenous Studies Department, and the broader campus community to support Indigenous students and promote a healthy, holistic approach to student life that respects physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Acts as the official representative and spokesperson for the Indigenous Students’ Union
Represents Indigenous student concerns and perspectives to SCSU and college committees
Chairs meetings of the Indigenous Students’ Union
Supports the planning and implementation of Indigenous student orientation activities
Builds and maintains relationships with Indigenous students, campus partners, and community groups
Acts as a liaison between the Indigenous Students’ Union and the Indigenous student body
Collaboration & Governance
Represents the Indigenous Students’ Union on Sault College committees as required

Role OverviewThe Board of Directors represents all fee-paying Sault College students and acts as the governing body of SCSU. Board members help ensure that SCSU is operating effectively, responsibly, and in the best interests of students. This role is ideal for students who want to be involved in decision-making without taking on a full executive position.

Represents student interests and perspectives
Helps guide the overall direction of SCSU
Votes on policies, priorities, and major organizational decisions

At a glance The Student Representative on the Board of Governors represents student perspectives at the college’s highest governance level while serving as a full voting member of the Sault College Board of Governors.
Role OverviewThe Student Representative on the Board of Governors is elected through the SCSU election process but is not an SCSU executive role. This position serves as a full voting member of the Sault College Board of Governors and participates in college-level decision-making. While the Student Governor brings forward student perspectives, they are required to act in the best interest of the college as a whole.
Key Responsibilities
Represents student perspectives on the Sault College Board of Governors
Participates as a full voting member of the Board of Governors
Attends Board of Governors meetings and committee meetings as required
Serves on the Advocacy Sub-Committee when required
Acts as a communication link between students, SCSU, and the Board of Governors
Collaboration & Communication
Invited to attend SCSU Board of Directors meetings to support communication between boards
Does not carry a vote on the SCSU Board but may provide updates and information
Works collaboratively with college administration, faculty, and staff
Meeting Commitments
Board of Governors meetings are held monthly from September to June
Typically on the 4th Thursday of each month
Advocacy Sub-Committee meetings occur as required
