The Indigenous Student Union (ISU) works with the Indigenous Studies Department and the Sault College Students’ Union (SCSU) to enhance student life on campus by promoting awareness of Indigenous/Metis/Inuit peoples and enhancing a healthy holistic lifestyle taking care of the physical, spiritual, mental and emotional aspects of each and every one of us. The ISU’s primary focus is to develop strong partnerships with other groups within Sault College and our communities.
Have your voices heard and assist with having our students voices heard by advocacy and providing tools to promote a healthy lifestyle by attending the many events we hold throughout the academic year. Chi-Miigwetch/Big Thank You.

Enji Maawnjiding “Where We Gather” Indigenous Student Centre “Enji” as some students affectionately call it…is a daily gathering place for the campus community. It is equipped with computer stations and media equipment, including a large screen for presentations or movie watching. Study-time or down-time, Enji Maawnjiding is a multi-purpose Centre like no other!
Enjiins (Little Enji) Looking for a quiet place to study or complete course work? Stop by Enjiins, our dedicated study hall. Located in the Indigenous Studies department (room G1090) Enjiins is equipped with computers, large round tables for group work and is just down the hall from faculty and staff offices.
SACRED FIRE ARBOUR Outside the Enji Maawnjiding Student Centre is our “Wiigwaasgamig” (Birch Bark House) Sacred Fire Arbour. You will see the fire burning during several events throughout the year such as during our annual pow-wow, seasonal gatherings, traditional teachings, sweat lodges and other ceremonies.
Traditional Sweat Lodge Overseen by our Elder In-Residence Ted Recollet, students have access to an on-campus sweat lodge. The department facilitates runs at least once a month (or by request) for students that may wish to utilize for their spiritual well-being.
