Emergency Food Bank Access
The SCSU emergency food bank is available to all students all year long. Whether you have run into financial troubles or just need a boost before your next paycheck. The food bank is strictly confidential, student numbers, and other information are requested for statistics only. More information on other community food banks and long term financial help is also available. The food bank is located in the SCSU office In the Health and Wellness building (F1200). The SCSU accepts food and financial donations from generous supporters all year long.
Due to the COVID-19 Situation, our process for the food bank for this has changed. Please see below for detailed information on how to access the Food Bank during this time.
FOOD BANK HOURS:
Wednesdays and Fridays
11 am - 2 pm
Odeno
Please follow the instructions below to access the food bank:
- The Food Bank is open on Wednesday and Friday between 11:00 am and 2 pm. And you can access at these times, please note that the food bank closes at 2 pm sharp.
- For updates on the food bank operations (open/ close) please follow SCSU on Facebook.
- Your Student ID is required to access the Food bank.
- You can access the food bank only from the backdoor of the Common Link, F1 parking lot (behind Odeno). There is a post on the Facebook and Instagram to help you find the Food Bank entrance. Once on location, please follow the staff and the security instructions, that includes waiting in the line with keeping at least 6 feet/ 2 meters between you and the other students and the staff.
- Once in the building, and after the verification pleases stand in the green marked boxes and tell the staff what items do you want in your bag, and they will fill the bag for you.
- You can pick up to 15 different items.
- The food are donated to us from United Way/ Harvest Algoma. It is your responsibility to check the expiry date of the items you will receive, for tips about the food consumption click here.
- You can access the food bank once a week and you have to refill the application every time you want to access the food bank.

Donors can drop them off at the food bank which is currently located at Odeno, any time between 11 am and 2 pm on Wednesdays and Fridays
MONETARY DONATIONS
You may send donations through e-transfer to SCSUFundsInTrust@saultcollege.ca. Please note in the message section to direct the donation toward the “Student Food Bank”
